On my 968 currently running Hoosier R6s 245 or 255x35x18 front and rear 285x30x18. Thinking of trying Hankook 214s since they are $450 less for 4. But would have to change to rear 275x35x18, which increases diameter of rear tire to 25.5 in from 24.9 with the Hoosier.
Will this be a big deal?
Also front diameter will be 24.7 in, rear 25.5 in. is this within tolerance for the ABS system?

PCA E stock 968

Dave, I run the Hankooks, I will have to go and look but I'm pretty sure they are F 245x35x18 and R 275x35x18. I have been running the same times as the Hoosiers.

I like the Hankooks. They are just as fast as R6 and you get more HC out of them.
I run a square setup on my M3 245/40/17 same as Hoosiers so I cannot comment on your other question. I believe there is a spreadsheet that will tell you if this is w/i your ABS tolerance.

Square setup on 944s/S2/968 vs wider rears, another interesting question, wider rears improve traction in rear, anyone have documented improvements in lap times?
And why not use staggered setup on M3 with wider rears?

On M3, square set up gets rid of some understeer and allows better tuning of suspension IMO. It also allows full tire rotation for more even wear & longer tire life. Plus, it is easier & less expensive to buy one size of tire rather than 2.

Great tire. A buddy has a 944 Turbo Cup and he talked me into the Hankooks and I have never looked back. He runs the 245/275 setup and set the lap record at Road America for G class.

for front engine rear drive racers I also like the square tire setup..... On my 2830lb (wet with driver) race 928 is right at 52.5% on the nose.....I run 275's all the way around...LOVE IT....
Just for fun my friends similar race 928 ran Yokohama take off slicks 240 in front and 280 in rear....far too much understeer for my preference.....
All of the seriously quick BMW's around here run square setups.... But driving style has much to do with preference too
