Question FEELER: another Patrick Long event?

Many of you remember the advanced coaching/race craft events that Glen put on with some of us at MSR, where Patrick Long was the key attraction.

With Glen's blessing, I have met with & spoken to Patrick recently, and he is interested in doing another one here in Texas, either at MSR again or TWS. We'd be looking at a 2 day event during the week.

The format is 2 days of open track time, for advanced solo drivers & racers, much like the David Murry events. The difference is that the number of cars would be limited. Patrick would drive everyone's car (with the car owner as passenger), in order to provide absolute benchmark data & video of its capabilities, as well as giving feedback on set up, etc. Patrick is contractually prohibited from riding right seat.

Then, other coaches such as myself would be available to ride right seat and help each driver get a bit closer to what Pat does in their car. We'd provide lunch each day, and maybe even have some sort of dinner on the night in between, depending on budget. We are looking at dates in late February and March, tentatively.

The last one we did was October of 2010, I believe. These are not inexpensive, but provide huge value, as past attendees have repeatedly attested here on RennList. Whatever price we'd charge would be all-inclusive. In the past, we were looking at 800-1000 for the two days, I believe.

So...who'd be interested?

Too expensive and too risky.

You mean the track it's self is too expensive and risky?

Yes. I don't want cars going home on flatbeds, and I don't want to pay what they charge.

Addendum: the other times this event has been put on, at MSR near Ft Worth, we had trackside support available. We'd aim to do that again.

You're missing the point. These have been very successful by being relatively small, at a very safe and discreet track with essentially nothing to hit. That's what we are doing again. We don't want to have 80 cars in order to pay Sebring prices...

I happened to see Glen this weekend and he mentioned this type of event. I'd do my best to make it if it's a Texas track.
