Default Which pfc pads for a 987S?

Which Pfc race compounds are you guys preferring for a gen 1 cayman S with hoosiers? I'm accustomed to pfc 97 for the 993.

PFC '08s - great feel but generate alot of heat. GT3 front ducts were not adequate on my Cayman but the very expensive GT2 ducts got the job done. FWIW I added some modified 996tt rear ducts that really helped rear rotor life. The PFCs were good for 15-18 DEs (PSM off). The 987s Boxster/Cayman need all the brake cooling they can get. Give Spencer *** at Speedsport in Danbury CT a call, he knows these cars well.

Marc, I've been running PFC 06 for 3 years and haven't found a reason to change. I've had more issues with rear brake cooling then the front which I believe is the traction control intervening (with PSM off). Added modified TT rear ducts as mentioned earlier (do a search at Cayman Register), GT3 ducts in front. When you need to change rotors, look at Sebro Slotted. Solution to the traction control is a LSD.

Hi Bill, my source for pads OG Racing, suggested the switch for added longevity. I had '97s, '01s, '06s prior. Each subsequent variation was an improvement on the last in one way or another. I ran PFC front rotors and had 40 days on them when I sold the car this past spring. They still had plenty of life. The TBD Quaife (1/3 rd $$ of Guard LSD) is/was probably the best mod I made to the car! I had that installed after the second track day with the car at about 2,000 miles.

I've taken a step back in time now with an '88 Carrera dedicated track rat, but I really miss the Cayman .....

Pls indicate which PFC pad fits the 987.2 Boxster S. I don't mean compound (like 97, 01, or 06). I mean which size/model. When I looked on the PFC site last season I didn't see anything.

TIA,

My spare pads went with the car so I don't have any part numbers. I always dealt with OG Racing, they know their stuff and are very friendly...

Gentlemen, (and Bill and Fred..!)
Appreciate the car thoughts. Car is pretty well sorted, with a quaife LSD, GT3 brake ducts, and a actual psm shut off. I've seen how students' rear brakes and tires get smoked from invasive psm.

Our friends at Apex, a rennlist sponsor, tell me 08 is available for fronts (I think he said), and 06 for both. My buddy Edwin at Raceshopper.com suggested 06's. Fred--I'm sure either can help you with fitment.

On a separate note, if anyone has a rollbar or 18" takeoff wheels, give me a shout.

7 cars for 2 people ... that's a good ratio.

do you have a dog or cat for one of them?

Front pads for the 987 Boxster and Cayman S are the PF0776. It's available in the 08, 06, 01. Rear is PF0738 and is available in 06 and 01.

I've gotten good feedback from Cayman drivers (both race and Drivers Ed) using 08 front and rear and 01 front and 08 rear, as well as 06 front and rear. I ran 06 front and rear on a Spec Boxster and they worked very well. I found that the 08 actually has more bite than the 06.
