Van the man
I went to my first PCA event last week at Lime Rock. Since this was my first PCA I needed to have an instructor ride along. Its a good rule.
As I am getting in my car for tech a guy walks up to me and I say to myself "I know this guy from somewhere." He introduces himself as my instructor so I ask him "are you Van from Rennlist?" He was nice enough not to laugh at this remark.
Turns out I have been watching his videos on youtube to change my timing and balance shaft belts for the first time. Pretty funny coincidence.
In my opinion Van is one of the top instructors out there. I have had a bunch over the years. My first ever track day a bunch of years ago my instructor yelled at me in German the whole day. It appears I only did things "wrong" and "less wrong" that day.
Van was the perfect instructor. Instead of trying to change everything (which many instructors want to do) he built on what I was doing. Better lines, helping me set up passes, it was all great advice.
My car also held up after my first belt change!
Thanks again Van!
