Default Nice hotel in Daytona?

Hi All,
Well instead of doing Vegas next month for my impending 'big' birthday, we've decided to go to the Rolex 24.
I'd like recs for a nice hotel in Daytona. Gonna head from there to the Sebring David Murry event and then 2 days at Disney. Should be a fun week!
TIA

I go for convenience and stay across the street at the Ramada. It has a bar and restaurant and I never spend any time at the hotel during the 24 anyway.

I agree on the staying near the track comment. Traffic can be really horrendous.

As to driving in central florida in general, it can be really terrible. The stories are true. The last time I went to the 24 hours my dad and I drove the 930 and the CIS started failing after sitting in the inner circle of hell on I-4 (orlando). I somehow limped the car to *near* the track and it died in this parking lot between a waffle house and X-mart. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=waffl...,135.23,,0,4.2

Just stayed at the Hilton on the beach for the club race. It was decent for a beach hotel, just make sure you get a big room. The have some ground level rooms with patios that open to the beach, although in Feb, it may be too cold for a swim. Best part is it is next to Starbucks.

You will be a the hotel at some point. You will either get cold or wet or both, and want to relax for a while. It's a 15 minute drive to the track. I've never had a problem with traffic on 24 weekend. The place is built for 250K people or 100K bikes.

For some classic fried seafood, hit the Ocean Deck down the street, or head up to Flagler Beach and visit Snack Jack's.

We usually stay at the Courtyard, Close to the track, just outside turn four on the otherside of the airport. Nice rooms, very close to the track.

I agree with the above, if you want a nice room the Hilton (100 N. Atlantic) is the nicest hotel I have stayed at in Daytona Beach. They have a very nice restaurant/bar (Hyde Park) and a good breakfast buffet. It is not a bad drive from the track and the oceanview rooms are worth the extra $$.

The Ramada is great because you can walk to the track and don't have to mess with parking which as mentioned has become a pain the last few years. The restaurant/bar is a Chili's or something like that. The rooms at the Ramada are just acceptable and you fall asleep to the drone of the GT and DP cars.

Be in shape as you will walk miles everyday at the track.

The hotel I now stay at in Sebring is the LaQuinta on US 27, it is new and has easy access to the track via the "back way".

Have fun in FLA

Ladies and Gents,

Big points here...look up the Shores Resort and Spa. If you are bringing a significant other, it's perfect. I refer to it as "civilization." Before moving to Daytona I lived in Los Angeles and before that I was a wanking analyst in NYC. Trust me! No one knows the culture shock that is living here like I do!

BUT...you will not be disappointed with that place. The menu rocks. They have an outdoor bar and fire pits and what not by the pool and they even provide marshmallows to roast. You can't go wrong. After that, the Hilton has been cleaned up a lot and has some new restaurants.

Here's a link because if I was reading what I was writing, I too wouldn't believe me!

Cheers.

P.S. Hi Mark! How goes it? Going through withdrawl yet?

Thanks John.
I was looking at that place on trip advisor. Being out on that 'island' is it a PITA to get to the track etc?
