Just happy you're OK Dave. That was the site of my first ever spin. I was a green student in my instructors
car.

Hey man, cars can be repaired, you can't, don't let it get you down, you walked away from it, and can talk about it.

Dave...thanks for writing to remind us to be extra careful with safety preparations. Glad you are OK. Scary story...it could happen to anyone.

I hope you're not too stiff and sore today. Sorry about the cars! Great reminder about safety equipment!

Glad you're ok. Thanks for posting as there is a big lesson about safety equipment to be learnt by all of us.

Really sorry to hear this Dave. BTDT myself, and it is NO fun. Glad you came out of it ok. In the end, that is all that really matters.

BTW Dave, The Rebuild is Step 15. I didn't tell you about that step because I didn't think you were ready for the whole truth...

Again, thank you all for the well wishes. I am doing just fine.

I had debated posting my crash experience. It is a reminder to all of us that bad things can happen and happen very quickly. I have a greater understanding of all of that safety equipment we use and will never go out without it. I am convinced that I would've been badly hurt without all the safety gear and a well prepped car.

And Mike, maybe you should point out Step 15 earlier. If you had pointed it out, I would have waived in acknowledgement!

Sorry for your bad luck Dave. Glad you're OK though. Had a similar experience in my Atom 300, oil at T7 at Tremblant. Took out 90 feet of Guard rail with s 1400 lb car. Hans worked.

Best,

Dave,

Your experience prompted me to finally paint my cage (about time seeing it was installed August 2010) and increase the amount of SFI approved padding. See you soon buddy.

Don't forget to replace your harnesses if/when you rebuild, and your HANS tethers now. Also, look over your seat carefully. Mine was torqued from my wreck. I sold it to someone for use in a simulator. It was no longer safe to use on the track.

Sorry to hear, it's been fun watching your progress with the car. It does go to show that no matter how well prepped the car and skilled the driver something can always go wrong. I don't know anyone that has been doing this for a while that hasn't had the "O ****h!" moment, it's a matter of time, and the outcome is often out of the drivers hands. Besides the obvious financial hit it can undermine confidence and many just hang it up. Kudos for getting back on the horse, not what many would do. Hope to see a "Kitty Too" build soon....

Best,
OMG Bob. I can't imagine trashing guardrail with the Atom. That must have been a hell of a hit.
