Jack,

Two of the other red 911's and I qualified next to each other at Gingerman. You are welcome to run in our pack if you want to slow down a bit.

This will be my first race at RA. I am looking forward to it. I did some DE there years ago.

The "Minnesota ghetto" will once again be on the extreme south end of the upper paddock, adjoining the boys from Oklahoma and Texas. Stop up for a visit.

993PET (Joseph) - it was great to meet you and you were really quick for never being at RA before. Also, thanks for the Hairy Dog recomendation, they saved my weekend by having a caliper bolt.

After my "code brown" moment in T5 I found out the corner worker called '513 black left the track at great speed... no impact." Not funny when I lost the brakes, but some pretty hilarious comments from people afterwards.

Again, it was great to meet you, maybe we will run into each other again sometime.

Hi John:

Congrats on your Rookie awards! Making new friends was one of the highlights of my weekend. Road America is a magical place and will now become part of my regular season. I plan another visit with NASA next month.

Hope to see you again soon!

I saw that!! I couldn't believe you avoided the tires... you were flying! You looked like an autocrosser doing a slalom course.

The top caliper bolt on the passenger side fell out. This allowed the caliper to rock forward so when I hit the brakes all the pressure went to the path of least resistance which were those rear pistons that had nothing to press against. I pumped the pedal a couple of times and then just mashed it to the floor with everything I had. I had some very expensive thoughts as I went through the tires. For the record, apparently my idiot of a mechanic (me! ) did not torque the bolts on that caliper - it is lucky the whole thing did not fall off.

I will look tonight, but I think I have video...

What a great event!
Perfect weather.
Some close, tough racing.
The usual fun dinner at Siebkens (and thank you Chicago Region for not having a band at the dinner so one could actually carry on a conversation around the dinner table!)
Unfortunately the local police man took his job of leading us safely from the track to Siebken's at a slow, safe speed a bit too literally and so the drive over and back was painfully slow but still fun.
What a great time!

It might be a dirty secret around these club racing sections of Rennlist but... <looks left> <looks right> Pssst..... John is an avid autocrosser...

You're welcome We did have gentle music playing over the PA for a bit, and David Murry was supposed to have a Q&A session as the evening wound down for those who were interested, though not 100% sure what happened with that either. At any rate I'll be sure to remember that feedback for next year in the event we get the crazy idea to have music playing...

Yeah I thought so too - though officially, that's all he could do (though the local PD has exercised some leniency in the past with that....) The escort wasn't my thing to set up though so I'm not sure why it went as slowly as it did. I did notice a lot of oncoming cars (and cars attempting to merge with the pack) so I wonder if we didn't quite have the PD staff on board we needed to make sure the roads stayed truly closed...
