cool project. is this for a customer or are you building it on spec, to sell to a GA team (or campaign yourself)?

It will start as a spec car that will most likely get gobbled up by one of our existing customers or maybe next year's customer. The car's legality is still not official but if we are going to build one, we ought to build two but we can't build two spec cars; I figure we ought to be able to find someone else that wants to be the first kid on the block to have a 991 race car though.

Normally GS Porsches built for our series get thrashed on these boards because teams spend close to $200K building them and for the same price a mighty 997 Cup can be purchased. However, since there is no true Cup variant, this time that's not the case.

If you build it, hopefully they will come?!?!?

A GTC/IMSA spec Cup can be had for that kind of money but if someone is building a Grand Am or World Challenge Spec Cup they are going to be in for $400-500K. When looked at through those glasses, I think the car you are offering is a bargain...

Not to mention the running cost of the 991 compared to a Cup.
Good luck John. Please keep posting pics.

The big question is; Will it be competitive? Is is going to win or languish mid-pack like other 911 variants do today? Or worse, in the back like the RSR (recent race being the exception).
I guess 20 lbs/wk will guarantee it does not dominate.

Even at 20 lbs a week, they seem to be holding pretty solid in 1st and 2nd in class...

It's got the new Aisin PDK based 7MT gearbox in it. That's why the LSD is listed as under development.

No idea on the engine. I'd contact Mr Tecce directly on it. I only know about the gearbox because I'm the one developing the LSD for it...

The engine is the new 9A1 3.8 DFI.

John I can't wait to see the final build. This is the 1st racing 991 correct? When will Grand AM allow it to race?
