Reason #1 not to skimp on safety equipment
Hey guys. I feel like a lot of my post on here are recently have been about safety equipment and the importance of having the right equipment. This is a wreck that happened to one of my close friends, Mark Pombo, who races for Kia in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. Mark is in the hospital still with broken bones in his face and a broken collarbone. This was a well built car with all the right safety equipment in the car including window net, left side driver's net, and new belts. Mark was wearing a Stilo helmet with Hans. As you can see all the right safety was in to help protect him and that is probably the reason he walked away from the accident. Most of the cars you guys drive on here are faster than the Kia in a straight line so it is very important you guys think about safety as much as you do going fast.

No that is Canada Corner. There are no tire barriers or gravel traps to skate over in te kink.

Wow, glad he's ok. A good reminder to all of us to take installation, care, and feeding of all of our safety equipment seriously. Glad he's ok. Thanks for posting Seth.

Wow.. A 997 cup probably carrying 30 more MPH there. And I would venture to say most club racers dont have the saftey equipment this guy had.
Also, a very selfless act avoiding the car in front. If he had hit him dead in the rear, he would have likely been better off.... though this was probably just a reflex reaction.

I was thinking this, too. He managed to avoid both the Mini and the Mustang. I hope he makes a fast and full recovery.
