Default Few in-car laps from Mid-Ohio Promoter test day on Thursday.

I was at Watkins Glen the day before testing and TRG had a spare Rolex car available so I flew down to run some laps and learn the track. Thought about doing the race but didn't have a co-driver available on such short notice... probably a good thing as the track was much more difficult than I thought and was about 2 seconds off the pace. :-)

This was the last 5 laps of the 25 I drove.

Looking forward to going back there and improving next time!

Mid Ohio is very tricky. Drivers with lots of laps there have an advantage for sure.

It sure does look like you are doing a hell of a job figuring it the track. This track is on my list, I have it on my iRacing but would much rather drive it for real.

Thanks! I spent 2 hours a night for the 10 days leading up to the testing driving both the Glen and Mid-O on iRacing and watching in-car videos on youtube. It seems like doing that helps the first lap or 2 because you know where the corners are, but after that you pickup so much more in person. I was also lucky enough to have Spencer Pumpelly there for both tests setting me a baseline lap (in the same car, same conditions) early in the session so I could come in quickly to compare data every 4 or 5 laps and then get back out there to work on it.

Next new track for me is Spa after the 6 Hours of the Glen. It's not in iRacing, so might be a little dicey..... it'll be the first new track I've learned without the help of a simulator.

The Conti races make for good TV, but every time I watch them I see huge repair bills.. and over half the contact looks to be caused by driver error, not agressive racing.
