AIM has recently released a version of the Pista dash with a minimal harness to install in cars with ECU or RS 232 signal. This version also comes with the GPS module, a $279 value. List price for this package is only $1799. This is $479 less than the standard Pista and GPS module package. The dash is exactly the same dash. You save by not requiring all of the harness necessary for the earlier cars and do not get a beacon and receiver. There are raw connectors if you want to add an analog channel (8 available), but many ECU cars do not need any. Some of the new Porsches have steering and brake pressure from the ECU signal. I've attached some photos.

Dave, it's quite limited for that car. The reason for this new offering is because most everything manufactured post-2006 has what is needed to fully utilize this new dash.
E46 M3's have required the standard Pista because you should add an analog oil pressure sensor, since BMW doesn't include that measurement on it's engine management CANbus. Jerry says this can be added, so this may work.
The simple answer is, if the Solo DL works, this will work and get all the logged channels listed with just two wires!

I've found AIM's CAN list fairly good if you hard wire units like DL or Pista. The OBD "CAN" signal is much less accurate as to what you get for signal. On the 09 Cayman S were were able to obtain real brake pressure from the ECU, the first one I've seen. Like Peter says, this dash is Primarily for the 06 and newer cars. In case you have not seen it, I started a "Protocol List" where we have been listing protocols that have been tested to work, both thru OBD (not a good a signal as hard wired) and CAN (hard wired). The thread is listed as "AiM Solo DL Protocol list" on this list.
I have a few new ones to add so I'll try to do that today
