Wow - you can see Courtney visibly upset as the crash was passed...shaking head in disbelief and concern. Glad everyone came out ok and I agree - it is a true testament to the engineers!

I met David at an SCCA licensing school at Nelson Ledges in the early 2000s if I recall correctly. Nice guy, he wheeled a T2 corvette at the time and for a few years after. I only had my lowly ITS BMW 325.

Believe it or not, that happens more times than you would think just after the carousel (not the severity of the crash but the abrupt hook back to the inside wall). Nearly every DE I have been to at RA has at least one such incident or close call. My 2 cents, trying to get the car back onto the tarmac immediately after dropping 2 off. The upcoming wall of the kink will get you concerned in a hurry.

Glad Dave is ok. Violent, terrible impact and aftermath. But no fire, passenger compartment intact, he's ok. Hats off to the engineers who modeled the cage, the fuel system integrity and the safety cell around the driver. Goes to show that you should buy the best safety equipment and you should ALWAYS wear it...

Thats why a factory engineered cage is the best you can get.
