Default Heartland Park PCA Club Race

In spite of the forecast, we had great weather for the club race at Heartland Park. Light rain came in the last half of the Blue Sprint on Saturday. Couldn't ask for more.

Want to send a big thank you to Chris White for helping me out on Friday night. My car was cutting out horribly Friday afternoon. Via phone and e-mail from New York, Chris looked at logs from my TechGT engine management system, diagnosed and gave me a fix to my problem in a matter of minutes!

Here's a couple of stills from my Sunday video. Please, post some of your own pics and stories from the race!

What happened to you on Sunday Ron? That was some good racing to watch, then you disappeared!

Sudden loss of oil pressure, pulled over and stopped with it still showing '3' at high RPM but motor seized. Time to build that dry sump motor.

A big thanks to you, Ron, for all the technical/parts/tools help!
A shout out to Karl, Wes, and Richard as well for great advice and help keeping my car on track.

A partial list of challenges:
A turbo that wouldn't spin
A turbo that only produced 5lbs of boost
A bad cycling valve
Faulty intake plumbing
Faulty flywheel positioning sensor
Destroyed 3rd gear for all of Sunday

I only missed one race in spite of the above!
The weekend was certainly a challenge but was definitely one of the most rewarding ones for quite a while.

Had a great time. Must confess I didn't actually check the weather before I left Texas and upon arrival watched the TV and wondered weather I should pack up and go home. As It turned out the weather was fine although on my way home on Monday I did drive through what was obviously the outcome of a recent tornado. The track was great (this was my first time there).

My results were awful as I managed to spin in all but the last of my races. I did however manage a podium position in the last race (by then there was only 4 cars left and 1 was limping home with broken suspension. Little car ran perfectly despite my best efforts to destroy her.

KCR and club racing did a great job and my thanks goes out to all who made it such fun.

I struggled with tire management over the weekend, or more precisely lack of.

Actually wore a hole in a tire. Never thought it was possible.

I got some video footage racing with Ron.

Heartland seems to have a particularily aggressive surface so I'm not surprised about our lack of tire management. I was a little surprised by the amount of windscreen and paint damage I sustained the front looks like it was sandblasted.

I find this interesting. The KCPCA had track management purchase a blower/sweeper for just this reason - I wonder if it was used.

If not, why, and if it was, why the same old problem.

And that is why I don't go there anymore. Two races there, two windshields....the place is terrible for that.

The 30 mph tailwind was nice for those of us that drove north on Sunday.

Sadly, unless this changes, I won't return. Lost a windshield last year due to extreme pitting.

I do wonder what the story about he new sweeper is, though.

Heard that from others, I'd like to do a CR there, but I'll stay away until the track mgt corrects this problem.
