I have no direct experience with Toyo R1Rs but moved from Toyo R888s (I believe they are similar to the T1Rs) on my RSA to Nitto NT01s and I like them much better as the R888s were very loud on the street. At the time Toyos were very hard to come by in the US and I believe the Nittos are also a little cheaper.

I have the R1R's and like them very much. Sooo much better than the T1R/S that I used to have. Those were really bad. The R1R shines in the rain. I haven't used them as a DE tire but I would bet they will be great. I have used them as an autocross tire and they were very good.
