Then you get the call on your cell... you know, the one where you're on your way to yuk it up with your Porsche buddies at a local tech session or such.

You: "Hello"
Her: "Hey, I just updated last year's Quicken files"
You: "Uh, okay"
Her: "Do you know how much you've spent on this little hobby?"
You: "Uh, not really. Kinda have a blah, blah, blah..."
Her: "Well, I just totaled it up... and not including blah, blah, blah... it's about blah, blah flippin' dollars!"

And you are SO BUSTED!

The good news is that IF you can recover from this rather uncomfortable conversation, all can be well.

But, if you can't... the racing or track hobby is kinda riding off into the sunset baby!

Gotta love have a team owner that you have to sleep with!

No matter what level of racing you do, you cannot let the rational side of your (or anyone else's) brain look at the numbers. My wife was complaining that she didn't want to spend the $700 to renew her gym membership (which she uses a lot) and I was thinking to myself "that's less than the cost of running the cup car for 2 good sessions!"

 

So true Larry. Do you ever see any accountants that race? If they do, I havne't seen them...
