Default Recaro Fixed Back Question

How difficult is it to get into the back seat with sliding the passenger seat of a Recaro PP or Profi forward?

I do not have a roll or harness bar in my 996C4S and thinking about buying either a reclining seat or fixie.

I use my 911 for 80% DD and 20% DE.

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

If I get a set of PPs, I gues they would be as effective as a fat chick guard on a motorcycle.

Between the Profi_XL and the roll bar, I can barely fit my helmet in the back seat. They don't go far enough forward to allow easy access.

decisions decisions...If I had the scratch, the GT2 seats would be boss.

I visited Cantrell Motors in Kirkland, WA and was able to sit in all of the Recaros on display. I was not a fan of the look of the Recaro Tuning Seat - Sportster CS and with they had the Tuning Speed S.

Has anyone installed any of the Tuning line from Recaro?

If you can afford gt2 seats - they are nice.
Also, to swap out seat is not really very big deal. Only danger is that rear bolts are a bit difficult to align properly so you can ruin thread if not careful. So it all depends of what is you budget limit. Proper racing bucket seats do not have foldable backrests so if you look for a compromise it may be difficult. When you do DE or AX every week it is a PITA to swap seats but if it is a once a month deal - what's the problem? Get cheap proper bucket and use it for track day and after DE put back stock seat.

Run the race bucket on the driver's side only, and keep the reclining seat on the passenger side. Your kids can go in and out on that side.

Unless there are restrictions governing 'equal restraints' with your local DE groups. Some feel it's necessary.

Thanks everyone.

I am going to purchase a pair of PPs and have my wrench fabricate an extended rail for the passenger side. If this pans out, this will enable me to fit a passenger in the rear when needed.

I think this should solve my problem.
