Default Fangio & Brabham 1978: between them, 8 world championships

"Fangio and Brabham stop Sandown in its tracks in this captivating support race for the 1978 Australian Grand Prix.

The pair took to the track – Fangio in a Mercedes W196 and Brabham in his Repco Brabham – and held nothing back during their four laps around the Sandown Grand Prix circuit. Two legendary drivers and two timeless machines from two golden eras of motorsport going head to head in some pure, classy racing."

Note what the commentator says towards the end about how Fangio is working the wheel...

Enjoy!

Wow, great video Dave! I haven't seen that one. That would have been like the 2nd coming of JC himself to a small pocket of the world down here. Thanks for posting.

That was really cool. It can be hard to find good video of old racers - good quality picture, no dubbing with fake engine sounds, tires squealing, etc.

Awesome video. Thanks for posting.

That's a classic. Good old Sandown circuit [combined motor racing and horse racing track in Melbourne] and terrific coverage. Having the maestro and my boyhood hero Jack Brabham going at it, and good coverage to boot. I did a detailed drawing of Jack's car for a school project. Jack was a national hero.
