Default Streets of Willow 1 Day Clinic + 1 Day Event

For the “newbie”, or the veteran, here is an event worthy of your consideration, the Porsche Owners Club (POC) Performance Driving Series (PDS). On February 25th, the first of two (2) annual driving clinics is being held at The Streets of Willow on the Willow Springs Raceway campus. The track is located in Rosamond, CA about 1 1/2 Hrs from LA. For registration details see www.porscheownersclub.org

As we see on the POC website, “The POC Performance Driving Series offers drivers the opportunity to learn the performance capabilities of their car in a safe, legal (No speeding tickets issued here, only trophies!), controlled environment.” Attendees will receive a combination of classroom lectures covering the basics of high performance driving interspersed with track exercises to solidify what was learned. They will also have an experienced POC instructor as a passenger in their car, providing quality one on one instruction. Note all sports car marques are welcome. For most, required safety equipment required is limited to a Snell Foundation approved helmet for automobile use, SA2005 or later: Note there are some helmet loaners available. Highly modified cars are subject to more stringent safety requirements, V class and higher. The specifics of the classes are available on the POC website, found in the GCRs. Required car safety inspections may be performed at one of the “official” POC Tech Stations, or at the track. Getting inspections done in advance is best, in the event a correction or repair is needed.

The following day, the 26th, drivers having successfully passed the clinic, may participate in a continuous timed lapping (Timing is optional) using our AMB timing system allowing drivers to monitor their progress after each run session, as they hone their car control skills and learn the “racing line. Rental transponders are available. Class winners receive trophies at the end of the day.

You will experience a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, experienced instruction and lots of track time.

The program that started it all for me... Actually, Martin was one of my very first instructors when I was 16 years old!
I'll be out there giving back to the club this weekend.
