My best experience at F1 Indy (I was a season ticket holder for that event)
was watching the Porsche Cup cars.
you could park your butt anywhere you wanted as long as you had weekend passes.
We stood by fence near end of back straight and into carrousel.
Almost looked like a Nascar with the rubbing is racing theme going on that day.
The F1 race itself was yawnsville.

Without details on ticket cost I couldn't bring myself to put down $100 deposit for a chance to spend $1k-$5k which will give me the option to spend $unk on seats. But I guess it is more of an investment if you can sell any tickets you do get.
But sometimes I feel like I'm on the bottom end of posters here financially![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I see it as a free option, and I like free options.
Of course if the track fails I am out $100.

Oh well I guess I missed out then. I thought the deposit was for a PSL only. Man they need to hire someone to write these announcements better.
the $100 is a refundable deposit, or an option to get in line for a PSL. I'll decide later if I want the PSL or just go with a general admission ticket or scalp something better. I also wanted to show some support for the track.

I thought I made it pretty clear on my OP. The $100 deposit gets you a spot on a waiting list for the option to buy a PSL. And like "TRT" said, the deposit is fully refundable if you select not to buy the PSL.
I agree, however, you must remember that the PSL also gives you "first dibs" to buy tickets for other events at that venue, for the life of the license. So far the Aussie V8 Supercars series has expressed interest in running there, and there is rumor that MotoGP and ALMS are interested as well. It could be a very good investment.
PSLs are a bit of a bet on whether you think they will have an F1 race in Austin for the next 15 years. If they do, those PSLs will be worth a lot more than $1k-$5k! If not they will be essentially worthless.

That's pretty much what I would worry about.
You spend $2k-$10k for two seats, then Bernie pulls out and you're left with "exclusive" rights buy tickets at unknown prices for seats to races that aren't even close to sold out and can easily be picked up at stubhub for face value or less.
Even if Australian V8 supercars or ALMS races there it won't draw people from all over the country like F1 or MotoGP.

Hill Country Region of PCA is doing a setup similar to what the Central Indiana Region did when the F1 circus came to Indianapolis. Group buys on tickets, possible Porsche corral at the track and some off-track festivities at a great BBQ place in Austin. If you login to the PCA site and sign-in as a member, you'll see the offer page.

We went to the Canadian GP 5 years ago - it was a GREAT time - the cars are louder than you can EVER imagine...just fantastic! The race itself was good, the seats at the exit of the hairpin AWESOME...but the atmosphere at the track and the vendors really made it an event.
