2012 PERFORMANCE DRIVING SERIES (“P.D.S”)

PDS Events #1 & #2

STREETS OF WILLOW – January 28th & 29th, 2012

Saturday: January 28th, P.D.S. #1 Clockwise Direction w/ Bowl

Sunday: January 29th, P.D.S. #2 Counter-Clockwise Direction w/ Bowl

Pre‑registration recommended to ensure your entry!

This event limited to the first 120 entry forms received, one form per driver.

Season Opener - Recession Buster/New Member Drive

Each Member who brings a New Member to drive at this event will

get $50 POC bucks (non-transferrable to the New Member). The

New Member will be mailed a New Member $95 certificate which

can be used at their second P.D.S. Event. Also, reduced pricing for

this event – both days!! Bring out your friends!! Gift Certificates

available!




New Member Promotion: Postmark date of registration determines priority of acceptance. Please note the LATE FEE OF $25.00 for registration forms with a postmark date after January 21st. This event will sell out quickly! “Walk-up” registration only if spots available.

Students: All Students must be pre-registered and must contact, Dave Gardner, by phone at: (858) 414-4299 by January 23rd, 2012 (Mandatory). Please supply Dave with your prior track driving experience and type of car you will be driving. Request cannot be considered after this date and Instructor assignments cannot be made at the track if you have not contacted Dave by January 21st. Cars and Drivers: Limit of 2 Drivers per car, one Driver per entry form! This is a P.O.C. Points Event open to Porsche cars. Other make cars are permitted if event not sold out and may compete in an Exhibition class. All non-Porsche cars must pass tech inspection at the track. Tech at the track fee is $20.00.


Safety equipment: Long sleeve cotton shirts and pants, shoes with socks, SNELL SA’05 or newer helmet and street belts are the only requirements for Stock, Improved and Prepared classes. (Loaner helmets will be available). Class V, Z and highly modified non-Porsche cars require Nomex driving suit, socks and gloves as per P.O.C. G.C.R’s. Go to www.porscheclub.org to download the G.C.R.’s should you have any questions. Also check the Express Menu on the P.O.C. site for additional information on the track.


Transponders: All entries running for time MUST use a transponder (one per Driver), no exceptions. Please help us expedite registration at the track by registering prior to the event! We will run five groups based on times. You must submit your average lap time at the Streets of Willow or you will be put in the slowest group.


Class information is mandatory to run the event. If you need assistance with car classification, contact Steve Parker, Competition Director: steverparker@aol.com


Temporary car numbers will be issued if you do not have a permanent car number. Complete waiver forms must be sent with entry forms. Incomplete forms cannot be processed.

Exhaust: Closed exhaust in stock classes. Open exhaust OK where class legal.

Registration and Tech: Gates open at 6:30 AM. Registration and Tech- 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM. You are encouraged to have your car pre‑teched at one of the Official P.O.C. Tech Inspection Stations. At-track Tech- $20.00. Be there early. At this track we highly recommend fresh brake fluid and sufficient brake pads!

Driver’s Meeting: 8:00 AM. Sharp. All Drivers must attend the Driver’s Meeting.


Event information: Entry fee - P.O.C. Members: $140.00 per day or both days for $260.00.

After January 21st, $165 per day or $285 for both days. POC Membership is required - $95.00 annually. Associate Membership $25.00. One School plus three mandatory P.D.S. Events are required to obtain a Performance Driving Series License.


Run groups are as follows:

Yellow ‑ All Students and slowest Driver/Car combinations

White - Experienced Student Drivers or Fastest Student for 2 Students using the same car

Blue - Slower P.D.S. Licensed

Orange - Slower experienced Drivers/Instructors,

Red - Fastest experienced Drivers/No Students.



TRACK DIRECTIONS: From LA, take Hwy. 14 north to Rosamond/Edwards Air Force Base exit & turn left. Willow Springs is located approximately six miles. Turn right at the main gate to Willow Springs Raceway. Follow the road around to the right to the Streets of Willow.

I would guess with your experience and speed you would be in Orange or Blue. I would try for Orange as it is a bit faster and less crowded.

I figure to run in Blue and get an instructor, maybe get bumped to Orange later on.

Have run SOW only a few times and still need to attempt to find "the line".

Dave called tonight and got me set up for next weekend.

Been waiting for over a month to get back on the track. 8 days and counting
