944 Spec NASA Autoclub Speedway March 3rd-4th (w/video)
NASA SoCal is having a crossover event with the Arizona region at Autoclub (nee Fontana) Speedway March 3rd-4th, and it's going to be big!
The entire podium for the 2011 National 944 Spec National Championships at Mid-Ohio will be racing out there in California. Tyler Palmer is local, and Neal Agran (KLR on RL), and I are flying in and renting cars to represent the Midwest.
There should be 15-20+ cars, and a lot of talent there, so if you're interested in 944 Spec racing, or just good clean, close, and cheap racing, come on out. Or better yet, if you have a 944, come out and run it! Your 944 will go faster at Autoclub on the high banks of the big roval than about any other track out there.
Great video from last years (non-crossover) event here:
Update 2/10/12 - tentative entry list below:
1. Peter B
2. Tom A
3. Robert H
4. Jim H
5. Tim C
6. Tyler P
7. Everett D
8. Eric K
9. Neal A
10. John N
11. Jim R
12. Rafi G
13. Team Pain (Paul L and Tage E)
14. Joe P
15. Otto S (long shot, but maybe!)
16. Norm H?
Looks like we'll be into the bigger Toyo payouts! Wohoo!

Pete & Tim - I didn't get to race against either of you guys last time, but game on this time!
One thing that this video shows is how far crossed up you can get a 944 on Toyos crossed up, and ride it out, even if your Tim
Dirt trackin' is fun!

POC cancelled their April event because it was the same weekend as the Cochella Music festival and Motel 6 type rooms (if you could find one) were going for $350 and up....

Joe I want to race at Chuckwalla but need some ST2 cars to race. Only 1 showed up last weekend....

Entry list posted on the first page - looks like it's shaping up nicely.
With the new & better NASA Toyo contingency this is going to be great - $1,400 up for grabs from Toyo this weekend as it is, and $1,750 with just a few more cars.
For us, that works out to just over two complete sets of tires for one weekend.
If we make it to 19 cars the winner takes home enough to just about cover a set on his own., and that's just 1/3 of the payout.
Over an 8 weekend (26 race) season (with 9 cars or more on grid) that means over $11,000 in Toyo bucks (including the year end regional championship money). That's nearly 70 tires! Divided over 10 cars, that's almost two sets per season! For 19+ cars those numbers go up by about $4k/year.
Cheap tires and great contingency = life is good!

Gotta sign up so add one more to the mix
I have to say that I'm highly disappointed with Toyo and their contingency program. Me and several others in the socal NASA region have not received our Toyo Bucks despite the repeated inquiries as to why. Our Spec rep Everett has also attempted to get a reason for the delay to no avail. I'm still owed Toyo Bucks dating back to that race in July (Post #1) and other races in 2011. Not acceptable

I do know Toyo's address in Cypress California has changed. Maybe that is why. Still I have all my regions rebates through our december race and season championship. About to send in January and February race results this week.
On a good note my parts all created up and ready to be are shipped on Monday. Not sure exactly when they will show up.

Welcome aboard, in any case, Pete! You're not "Peter B" on the list?
Edit: email sent, I'll keep you posted.
