87 911 Race Car Chassis - Semi Tube Frame
Hi,
I have a 1987 race car chassis that has a 993 rear suspension mountings graphed onto it.
I am parting out the entire car, so the chassis has to go.
This comes with what you see here.
The chassis ready for 911 front suspension and 993 rear suspension.
Carbon fiber roof.
Diamond plate floor boards
mounting and tin for a transmission cooler.
It is a great cage with nascar style door bars on the drivers side.
It has just been sand blasted and painted with white POR15 paint
This is currently set up to accept a -98 motor and a 915 transmission, but the previous owner had it set up for a 964 g50 transmission, so it is pretty much ready to go for whatever you would like to have in it.
Also that comes with the chassis is an undertray setup made out of honeycomb aluminum.
It attaches from side to side to the boxed rockers to make a very nice full flat bottom for aerodynamics.
Since I have been asked quite a few times, though, I will add some extra information including some history.
I bought this car as a roller in 2006. I ran it for 3 seasons with the semi tube frame suspension. I had a great time. The car was taken apart for a refit and I put it back together, but had engine problems that had me pull the motor and trans back out.
I bought the car from Bob Howard. Here is his 944
BOB HOWARD at LINDSEY RACING - Your Porsche Performance Parts Center
He bought it from Randy Roatch. I spoke to him shortly after buying the car from Bob. He says that he and Jeff Conkel ran this car in Speed World Challenge back around 1998 - 2001 as the Applebee's car. I found a couple pictures of the car in that livery, but I was not impressed with it.
Randy also said that the car had spent time in a wind tunnel developing the aerodynamic package that it had. Some of that still exists, some does not. The full undertray and the boxed rockers are part of that.
Johnsonautosport originally did the 993 rear suspension conversion.
Here is what is possible. Randy had a big NA motor in the car at the time,
2001 Watkins Glen Sprint Race RANDY C ROATCH GT2R 01:46.2 RED 87 911
I am looking for $2400 plus shipping for this.
Thanks
Ed

Well, by the time I sold it the deal was even more killer.
I also sold/gave with the car molds to make about all of the body too as well as some of the other parts.
I have had and raced two cars that I have set free. Would love to know if either one is still out there racing somewhere or not.
Hard to believe that was only two years ago. Feels like forever. Bought a 996 cup car and barley have looked back.

1:46 in an aircooled 911 is almost unbelievable. That is 4 seconds faster than a GT1 car. Daytona Prototypes only do 1:42.5.
