Race bikes have steering dampers to reduce the possibility of a tank slapper and to provide a more stable feel to the rider. Most units are made using linear dampers. Packaging was always a problem until a quality rotary steering damper was released by Scott's in CA (made for them by Ohlins). Great units that mounted on top of the triple clamps. But twice as expensive as the Ohlins linear steering dampers.
