where are people having windshields installed in southern california? Preferably near san mario/pasadena.

One shop I called said they would have to mount via fasteners drilled
onto the roof. Is that really necessary?

If the lexan is the same size as the normal glass and not over sized than any glass guy can do it with the stock gasket, no need for fasteners, the shop you talked to probably didn't understand

It's better to have clips to keep the window from blowing out in a spin.

I'd trust Tyson down at Hergesheimers in Lake Forest; Dave at TRE in North Hollywood can do this as well.

My wrench is about 15 minute from you in Studio City. They've probably installed 10+ Lexan windshields this year including mine. In mine we used the OEM rubber windshield moulding and a off-center interior support bar. Roof mounted clips are more of a requirement for the rear window where the wind is blowing against the rear window.

PS: I'm off Lorain/San Marino and my 996 w/lexan is in the trailer out front after the long haul home last nght from T-hill....

Sorry I just saw your post. The trailer & car went back to storage yesterday afternoon. They'll be back in 2+ weeks for POC year end race at Willow Springs which you should come to. Regardless, go by Dan's shop in Studio City and you'll see plenty of GT3's with Lexan....
