Vettel has now tied Nigel Mansell's 1992 record for 14 pole positions in one season. Of course Mansell did it in less races. But to Vettel's credit it can be argued that Mansell had less competition in 1992. The 2011 McLarens are no slouches. There are seriously fast cars/drivers. Vettel just happens to be a 10th or two faster than the UK boys.

Silverstone seems so long ago, when Ferrari was back (I will skip Sir A. Wayne's bet that Alonso would win more races than Vettel post Silverstone. So what happened?

I am with Pete...Fernando's best days are behind him...it is not just the F150 Itala (the one that provides Alonso with practice podiums).
It is the driver. Of course Luca will blame everyone else, until Perez brings a billion dollars to Ferrari and Alonso and Santander are shown the door.

Is time has come and gone, passed over for victories by younger more talented drivers.
Or, it simply could be karma, biting DV for all of his alleged transgressions while at McLaren and Renault.
Or perhaps he just doesn't have fond memories of Abu Dhabi...

No matter, it is a wonderful sight.

But not to worry, I am sure the FIA and Bernie will see to it that Alonso wins next season. After all, a broken clock is correct once a day (I live on 24 hr military time).

Just watched qualifying -- thought for sure Vettel would be P2 given Hammy's quick session times. Was a pretty exciting Q3!

Continue to be a fan of Button, in the top five again.

Vettel has matured beyond his years.

If not for his new found maturity in the last season and a half the WDC would be Jenson again...

Seems everyone else is losing while Jenson wins if ya get what I mean.

I am a big JB fan even though I don't think he is the best driver in F1, hard to argue that is anyone but Vettel right now. I figure Button and Webber are about even for qualifying maybe Webber a slightly better qualifier. If I am right, then the McLaren is about 2 tenths faster on the average lap at this circuit this weekend and yet Vettel still manages to beat both Hamilton and Button in qualifying, pretty impressive.

Just for fun I am going to pick Button - somehow Hamilton will be faster but destroy his tires trying to pass Vettel in the first stint and come out in 4th after the first pitstop. Button will come out ahead of Vettel after the second pitstop and win the race.

Massa will intentionally not brake into a corner in order to plow right into Hamilton's gearbox at some point in the race but claim it wasn't his fault because he was on the clean line.

I had forgotten that Webber was in the points lead last year at this very race which happened to be the last one and Vettel was in third place in the points. Man, what a difference a year makes. Vettel was not the confident racer he is now and everyone better look out.

Webber seems but a shell of his old self. It's almost like Vettel is a vampire and sucked the blood out of him and is now the man!

Alonso will do well in the race as the Ferraris are always good in race trim. you just watch.

I can't imagine Hamilton hitting Massa or vice versa again this race as the McLarens have amazing pace and Massa does not, but you never know.

What happened to the Renaults? Boy are they WAY OFF the pace

Lewis - I did not make that statement Lewis Hamilton did, so take it up with him.

All I know for absolute certain is that Lewis Hamilton knows a hell of alot more about F1 racing than you and the amigos combined and he seems to think FA is pretty good.

The bottom line line is you are blindly and baselessly against FA thus you spending you're life ignoring one of the greatest drivers in the sport instead of enjoying the spectacle. It is your loss.

He is by no means "One of the greatest drivers of the sport", far from it, he is good no doubt and can turn a steering wheel, with the absolute best car and a clear number two he might win another title but he will never be absolute elite like Clark, Stewart, Lauda, Prost, Senna or MS, no chance whatsoever.

BTW, Ferrari will not produce a best car of the field in the near future. Fact.

And Hamilton opinion counts for ****, another one hit wonder win a WDC by default with not one ounce of mental toughness in him.
