Karl,
Glad to hear you are expanding your WC program.
WC keeps getting better and better and 2012 should be no exception.
Here are some cool videos from this past year with recaps and compilations:

World Challenge entry fees in 2011 were basically $2200 per GTS event but varied a bit depending upon the class entered (GT is a bit more and touring a bit less). Events where they have 2 races during one weekend the entry is discounted to $3600 for the two races.
Generally you will need 2 sets of tires for the weekend. The series spec Pirelli slicks for the 996 I will be running will go for $1800 a set.
Of course on top of entry and tires is the cost of travel, crew, lodging and incidentals all of which add up.
Having run the last race of the WC season at Road Atlanta in a BMW I prepared for WC a number of years ago, It is clear that the Mustangs are the class of the field in GTS in that they have significant top end speed. On the down side they are forced to run very heavy at 3350 lbs. WC is balancing the Mustangs power by allowing the 996 to run at 2800 pound. I'll be modifying my current "J" stock 996 by adding more lexan and fiberglass parts as well as removing the heater core among other things to get the weight down. The 996 is eligible to run 5 races next season and I believe the 996 can be competitive. I am basing this on my Road Atlanta club race times with Hoosiers and at 3060 lb min weight.
So if anyone is interested in running their "I" or "J" or "GTB" 996 (or even GT3) car next season in WC let me know.

I was going to ask what you were going to be running.
I've been told, but haven't checked the rules to see, that they are letting race prepped GT3s (not Cups) run in the GTS class next year. I think if someone puts together one of those, it will give the Mustangs a run for the money.

The 2012 schedule isn't out yet, but the tracks of interets to me are Sebring (WC hasn't done Sebring in a number of years but who knows if they will this year), Road Atlanta, Mosport, VIR, and Mid-Ohio. Some of these events might be double races and the 996's are only eligable for 5 of them, so I'll just have to wait and see what makes the most sense.
