Suspension Cam on Stohr DSR Track Car - Suspension Deflection & Rotor Glow
I thought this was really cool to see... Check out how much that tire expands at speed!
I found the video in this blog post: http://www.apexspeedtech.com/evaluat...ugged-hd-video

I like the glowing rotor, but there is not a whole lot else doing on.
This is an Enzo, but if you really want to see tire distortion:

All 3 videos are interesting for their different reasons. I like the first one for the obvious rotor glow, but also as Larry points out not a lot going on but of course that's partially due to very little suspension travel in those cars. Hence how the bodywork on the RHS is set so low to the ground without fear of it being worn or ripped off.
The 2nd one is good because you see something closer to what our cars would be doing. Much higher levels of tyre distortion.
3rd one as it shows the whole suspension unit moving together. Also just how slow revving the Corvette is in the corners! Of course there could be traffic or other reasons...maybe they just use all that fat torque on the way out.

(hey, I only lurk here)
I made one of those videos once:
5 minutes in, we reach the stage where the rotors are red hot all the way down the straights and white hot in the braking zones. They exceed the max operating temp of the dtc-70 pads and small chunks start breaking away from the pads, creating spark showers. I handily solved this problem by buying a lighter, less powerful car.

Awesome, thanks... my teammate just picked up a Stohr, to replace his Radical - will have to send it over!

Wow, one year in the Radical and the lure of the Stohr bit him.
Was Lee running the regular brakes on the car or was he one of the whizzy brake kits?

I thought Lee did have some whizzy brakes... but wasn't keeping close tabs. Someone was running carbon, some others I think had Ti.
And then, of course, there's the carbon springs...
Edit: Yeah... 924, to Radical, to Stohr, in 2 years!

The Stohr is pretty cool for sure. I have a chance to jump in a nearly new F1000 Stohr this fall/early spring. I'm afraid I might have to sell the SRF.....

Yeah - was too good a deal to pass up. Ironically, the old 924 is still in his garage (though sold)! Gotta get better at turning over inventory!
