I believe he jabs the throttle to induce oversteer to turn the car as the front wheels can't rotate the car the way he wants it to.

I'm actually surprised that he just gets in the car and goes like that. Do you think this would happen today? No helmet, or safety concerns whatsoever and he takes it right to the test.

We are taught to do this in carrousel turns; he is just doing it wherever he thinks it might help.
