In that Heidfeld incident, it looks to me like they're pulling the debris flag in and switching to a red as he's arriving. He's sideways, so he's on it with nowhere to go.

I noticed the safety truck incident during the live broadcast. It was pretty obvious when they showed the incar shots of the start. I was suprised none of the announcers said anything.

That little nook the truck ran into is also an exit from a run-off area. If someone had blown the turn and gone straight ....
I spent some downtime hanging out the an SCCA flagging crew at a regional race this weekend (Summit Point) and I have a new appreciation for the scope of effort that goes on behind the scenes just so I can go out and play racer.

IZOD Indy series has suspended a memeber of the Holmatro Safety Team for the next two races after the incident at the BGP that nearly caused an accident with Grahm Rahal for not following proper protocol.
