Default Feedback on Bridgestone RE11 ???

Hey guys,

My current Dunlop Direzza Star Specs have reached the end of their useful life and i was wondering if anybody has tried the Bridgestone RE11's in comparison to the Dunlops.
Sizes are 235/40/17 and 255/40/17 on an 89 911 that sees approx 12 to 15 track days per season.

I will be using Nitto NT01 "R" compounds on another set of wheels in the dry next year but i also want a good tire that i can use in wet conditions as well as when i drive my car on the street !
Any feedback, as i'm really tempted to give the Bridgestones a try although they are more pricey than the Dunlops. On top of that,Dunlops are hard to come by in my area as it seems there are not many distributors ...

Cheers !

Hankook RS3's are great in the rain...If you are looking for a dual purpose tire.
See you next week?!

Phil, I am running RE-11's as my primary DE tire. I really like them. Of course my comparison was a set of Yoko S Drives that came on the car ('80 SC). They are great in the dry and last May I had them in the rain for a few sessions and I thought they were outstanding.

I like them enough that I will probably put them on my new-to-me '99 996 when I go to VIR in November.

HTH

The real question is, how the hell did you burn through your set of Dunlops so fast? Wow. You may want to check alignment (or stop flat spotting them!)

See you at LCMT.

Cheers

I have Bridgestone RE11's on my Boxster with 205/40/17 on front and 255/40/17 on back and they have been good tires. Street ride is not great, and they are noisy when worn down, but they perform well. They wear nicely and seem to be fine in the wet. Mine are 6 years old and still have tread left and no flat spots and never a flat. Backs are about 60% worn and fronts are only about 30% worn. Since they are 6 years old, new rubber will be going on in spring and I've decided to go with the Hankook EV's since they are so much cheaper and have been told by many club racers that they perform as well as the much more expensive brands like Bridgestone and Michelin. In fact, right now, Discount Tire is offering $100 off on new Hankook EV's making price for above 17 inch wheels about $600 for set. Can't beat that with a stick.

Matt,

My tires are two years old ...
I measured the fronts and the tread depth varies between 3/32nd and 4/32nd.Not too concerned about a dry track but we all know how unpredictable the weather is at Le Circuit Mont Tremblant and
how much fun turn 7 can be in the rain with bald tires

See you guys next week !

Cheers !

Makes sense - I thought they were new. A lot of guys switched to them this season for the first time.

Cheers!

Hey,

Think it's easy holding off all those GT3's with a 217 hp 3.2 911 ... lol
Something's gotta give and in this case the tires took the beating

Cheers !
Phil
