Default Air / Fuel Mixture Gauge and Sensor?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone had a recommendation for an air/fuel mixture gauge and sensor combo that works well in an old 911. I have a 74 Carrera with an 82 Euro SC 3.0 ltr. I'd like something what was.. appropriate looking for an older car but still accurate (in other words didn't look blatantly digital).

Thanks for any advice!

I've been running an Innovate for 5 years in my 86 930 and it has performed flawlessly. Must have in any turbo car driven under track conditions.

I have the innovate too in my '73 and just put an analog looking AFR meter in my clock hole.
Got a clock blocking plate and drilled it out for the meter, looks nice.

Have a look at Zeitronix too.

There are some gauges that are narrow band (basically useless) 0-5v. You can use an Innovate LC-1 that has a 0-5v output to convert them to wideband. This opens up a lot of possibilities for displays and gauges so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one that will look good an come close to a factory match.

I don't have any first hand experience with Speedhut gauges, but I have friends that are very happy with them. AFAIK, they'll make something custom for you if you can't find something you're looking for in their catalog.

What kind of fuel are you using, leaded or unleaded?

Lambda sensors don't like leaded fuel which is why on my 914 I only use it to tune before a race then remove it .Unleaded fuel would allow you to use it full time.

I'm currently using a AEM wide band version in both my 914 and Spec Miata. It gives me a digital read out and has a color spectrum across the stosciometric range.

Innovate's is great. plus you can easily hook up rpm and really see what its doing over rpm range by downloading data.

You can use them with leaded fuel. Sensor just does not last as long (ran camII 110 in my 930 with it).
