Oh, you didn't miss anything... racing was no good, and the weather sucked...

I was there as a DE participant and spectator. Had a great time sliding the Spec Miata around the track. What a fun place to drive.

The racing was really entertaining. Highlights included a great battle between Norwood and Olcha in sprint #1. Olcha managed to hold on to for a win. I assume Keith must have had a mechanical later on, as he packed up and left before the races on Sunday.

David Hodges came from third place to take the first SP996 race while battling a transmission that was going out. He was losing third gear off and on during the race, but still found a way to win. A new phrase was coined: "I got Hodged." The next two SP996 races were won by Coinboy Bell, and Chuck Bray.

Neils Meissner and Richard Bennett battled throughout all three sprints for first in E class. IIRC, Richard took the first two races with Neils taking the third. Some terrific driving on both of their accounts.

Arguably the premier set of races was the battle for SpecBox. Watkins was out this year, but Jim Buckley stepped out of E class and into SpecBox for the first time. After Sprint 1, it looked like there might be a new sheriff in town, with Buckley winning that race. Gladwill fought back, and took sprints 2 & 3. It was a classic battle from two very talented drivers.

Your RSA looks great, and very good to meet you. We'll all be back next year at same raceports.

It sucks having your car at your favorite track and having to be somewhere else with some silly family obligation and then being forced to hear about the fun the others had. I am jealous !

I became clear that RA1's were faster than R888 over a race on Friday, a few of us scrambled to get tires and figure them out. Gladwill reset the SPB lap record on RA1's to 1:26.2 I believe, with Buckley just a tenth or so back...those two were rolling.

Sprint 2 was my personal favorite, seems like I spent the entire race within a car length of someone. My thanks to everyone running the event! A few pics of my favorites..

Also noteworthy Niels set a new class record for the track in E Stock at 1:25.85 (or something close to that). He and Richard both broke the old record this past weekend.

Great weekend and great track! It was my first time to Hallett but it'll be an every year thing now!

Speaking of slitheries; Kai made an elegant exit track right in 2/3 in front of the Pumpkin!!!

That beautiful red car has some kind of fixation with Orange in the mirrors!

Made up for it with WORLD CLASS pork curry lunch saturday!

See you at HPT.

Bob
