On a 964, just use Zimmerman rotors. Tried just about every option on my 964 when it was being used as a DE car. Reasonably priced and readily available. Don't get the cross drilled.
We keep Porsche replacement rotors in stock at OG Racing, along with your favorite Pagid, Performance Friction, and Hawk pads.

My main concern is warping rotors which seems to be a common issue with 964's because of the lack of cooling options.
I tracked a 911 SC for eight years and never warped a rotor. I had the AJ USA front brake coolers.
I have searched brake cooling on 964's and again the options are limited without mods that would change my car.

Do you still have the stock brake scoops on the car that attach to the control arms? Do you still have shields that are behind the rotors on the car. If so, take those off for sure. When my car still had the stock brakes when it belonged to my dad, we pulled those off and it helped.

No slots, no holes, no cracks. If you have tracked an SC, Stock 964 brakes are much more substantial. You should have very little worry of warpage. I have about 20 DE days on my rotors, and they should still be good for another set of pads.
I used to track an 86 with stock brakes. I had vibration problems with Porterfields but I think the problem was with pad material causing uneven heat transfer, because if I took the car back out and hammered the brakes a couple of times the vibration would usually go away

Thanks for all the input guys!. I have always been a stock rotor guy in the past.

It this syndrome of cracking slotted rotors something peculiar to 964s? I've not heard so many people complain about cracked slotteds before. Perhaps I need to get out more often.

Yes, I have the stock plastic brake scoops. Removing the dust shields is on my short list.
Any experience with the Porterfield race pads?

Consider using a better, higher temp track compound/brand pad.

I don't have experience with Porterfields, but pad transfer could the the culprit. Pagid RS19 or RS14, Performance Friction 01s or Hawk DTC70 would be good choices.
