Default Heel and toe in your 911?

I plan on bringing my 993 to an event this season as opposed to my 944. Im sure you are all aware that the 993 pedals are not ideal set up for heal and toe. Anyone here DE there 993 with stock pedals? How do keep those smooth transitions when downshifting without shifting weight of car?

thanks

Under hard braking the pedals are actually pretty good. I simply added a 1/2in wing at the top left of the accelerator and its perfect (for me anyway).

Wing? Is this something you can buy or are you referring to a racing pedal with and extention?

I hear this complaint a lot from drivers of many cars, including the 911. Personally, I find they are easy to heel toe, and there is almost always a way with just about any car with stock pedals. Take a look at what Seth does in his bimmer to see one way of dealing with it.

Rennline does make pedals with extensions that a lot of people use, but I've never seen the need for it.

I think drivers become convinced they can't do it after trying a couple of times in street driving. The thing is, you're not braking nearly hard enough in street driving for the pedals to be at the right heights. But on the track (which is the only place it has any utility, really), it's simple.

Put another way, if your pedals are adjusted so that you can heel and toe during moderate braking, then it's probably going to be all wrong when you actually need it.

I agree with Jack. The 993 stock pedals work just fine. If your rolling your foot then you may have a problem. Actually heel/ toe should be no problem.

I have stock pedals in my 993 and I track my car all the time and do not have an issue heal/toe'ing. There are two corners at my local track (turns #1 and #9 both coming off of long and fast straights) and ...knock on wood ... applying the brakes while revving the engine to downshift has never been an issue. I should add though, I do not roll my foot.

As an aside, I have no idea what I do with my foot. It's been so long since I thought about it. I can hear the blip in my track videos and see it in the data. I kind of suspect it's like juggling -- that if I tried looking down at my feet or thinking about it too much, I'd drop all the *****.

You can buy the elaborate ones, but in my case just simple piece of 1/8 aluminum cut in the shape of the pedal, only it tapers out an extra ½ in at the top.

Si. I recently drove a client's 993 at VIR, had zero issues heel/toeing, even doing 5-4-3-2 into T1. Easy peasy!

At least in stock form, those 993s also have the weird rear-end shimmy in triple-digit sweepers.

I watched one of my own videos. I brake with the ball of my foot and swing the heel over to the right for the blip. I've got no idea if this is the best way to do it, but it's what works for me. At least, I've got a mag case 915 box with 10 hard years of track use on it. So something's working.
