Default This could be Ferrari's next #2 driver......

Looks like they are staying with the Latino connection and perhaps substituting Massa for the young Mexican Sergio Perez.....

Pérez to test for Ferrari in September
13 July 2011Sauber’s Sergio Pérez will be testing for Ferrari in September, it has been confirmed by the Maranello team. The 21-year-old Mexican, who made his F1 debut at the start of this season, will join GP2’s Jules Bianchi for a run in the F60 chassis of 2009.

The 2009 Ferrari will be used for the test in ItalyAt present, circuit testing is strictly forbidden mid-season, with each team only permitted a select few straight-line aerodynamic runs. However, Ferrari will be able to carry out the circuit test as it will not be using its current car.

“We will be back on-track in September, at Mugello or Fiorano,” explains Luca Baldisserri, head of the Ferrari Driver Academy of which Pérez is a member.

“It will be a very interesting test because we will be putting Jules Bianchi and Sergio Pérez up against one another. I think they will both be very motivated and for us it will be the perfect opportunity to assess both drivers.”

I thought Luca recently said that Ferrari is very happy with Massa. Maybe not.

With Perez backed by Carlos Slim, I think Perez is Ferrari's next #1 driver.

Alonso's justification for being at Ferrari (Santander $$) is nothing to what Perez will bring for $$.

And we know what Luca thinks of $$ ...

It's probably not even Ferrari's decision to make. They should just go straight to Alonso and find out who he'd like to have crash for him......err I mean drive with him.

Isn't that the Kiss of Death? Watch Massa be gone after the season.

Massa is not going anywhere until 2013, when lewis makes his move and head on over to Mercedes, replacing that deadly Slow poke... and petals all time night warmer..

I wouldn't put it past them to replace Massa next year. I think they have only kept him as pitty for getting hit in the head "taking one for the team".

I like Massa, but I think his time with Ferrari is up.

Glass house :

"Mark maintain the gap "........................

If Alonso really wanted someone to crash for him , Stoolmacher would be a better choice and he holds up traffic to boot ..

Ferrari wants a driver who can win races immediately, not a rich mexican rookie still wearing F1 diapers ...
I agree Massa won't be around next year but i highly doubt Perez will be their man and i also wouldn't be surprised if DiResta took over Schumacher's seat at Mercedes !

Cheers !

I can see Perez buying that seat. Well, having that seat bought for him. Massa is gone. I can't imagine him being there next year no matter how well he is allowed to perform.
Perez proved his worth when he crashed in Monaco. That ought to be enough earn for DV's blessing.

Let's not be so hard on Sergio, after all, last weekend he finished seventh (7th), and he seems to be improving with each race. However, I doubt that he will go to Ferrari, I think Massa will go to Mercedes and Webber will go to Ferrari with Fernando Sergio will stay at Sauber or go to Williams Wouldn't that be something if I was right

Massa, Hamilton and Schumacher all have contracts until the end of 2012. That's when I think there will be wholesale changes.

Schumacher will retire, Massa will be moved out of Ferrari and Hamilton will command huge $$ on the open market.

Mercedes seem bound to make Rosberg one of the highest paid drivers on grid despite the fact that he hasn't won a race yet. He seems like a good driver, but in the past two races when conditions were wet, he seems to go backwards faster than Jarno Trulli during a race.

I can see Hamilton going to RBR and leaving the stuffy atmosphere of McLaren.

ALthough Perez is backed by the richest man in the world, he has performed well considering his big accident. Peter Sauber does have an eye for talent and it'll be interesting to see what he does during testing.

Quick Reply: This could be Ferrari's next #2 driver......
