Mosport PCA Club Race 2011.......
Thinking of signing up even if I have never been to that circuit before.
From what I have read it is supposed to be a spectacular track to race on.......
My question is there are only 49 drivers signed up 3 weeks before the race, is it usually a lower turnout race or does everyone sign up last minute?
Is there a test and tune day before the race? Any coaching available?
Thanks....

Amazing track. Amazing venue. The people are so nice.
Many consider Mosport their favorite track. I'm one of them.

Due to it being in Canada, it's not one of the more widely attended Club Races. Lots of track time and a GREAT track though. Don't let the lack of a crowd keep you from discovering a fantastic track.

Mosport
Mosport is one of my favorite tracks. I think it has a great "flow" - something I find missing in many of the newer tracks. Very enjoyable. A few of the corners are fairly technical and "high consequence", so I would suggest you do the test day and get some advice from one of the many locals who know the place well. UCR folks are lots of fun and run a very nice show. Certainly a track where there can be a "home field advantage" if you know the place.

A lot of people register in the last week before the race. There are 53 registrations as of now.
There is a test & tune day on Thursday July 28th and you need to register directly with the track. I don't know why but the UCR region website is down (http://www.pcaucr.org/site/home.jsp). Usually you can get the form to register for the test & tune day there. Attached is the form of last year. I guess it should work if you simply change 2010 for 2011. The fee is the same this year.

Seriously, though, once you've been around to get the "lay of the land", so to speak, the track will enthrall you. There are lots of laps on YouTube to give you a primer...I was there myself yesterday (again) and it was awesome (again!).

You should go; it's a long haul but a fun track.
I was a volunteer at the race each of the past 2 years, and it seemed like a really nice bunch of folks (its easy to like Canadians).
The track is fast; even at my speeds it seems like start/finish comes up sooner than you might expect.

Paulo Mosport has a test day on the Thursday. It is $275 pre-registered by the 15th or $325 after the 15th. Contact me if you are interested in some coaching for the day.
The race usually attracts 90-105 race drivers and there is a DE style lapping group as well as part of the weekend. Come enjoy this "big b*lls" track.
