My CargoPro aluminum enclosed (20') does not have skid wheels at the back; backing down my lower driveway results in the tail digging in slightly.
I want to add skid wheels or rollers and am looking for advice.
Paktron and others make a variety of bolt on wheels and brackets for this purpose, (ranging in size from 3" diameter x 2 3/16"wide on down) which look appealing but the trailer shop says no, they are too narrow and act like pizza cutters, which makes sense to me.
They recommend instead a single 12" roller centered, but it requires a custom fabricated bracket. I'd rather not get into custom fabrication, although the cost isn't too bad.
My questions:
Does anyone have any good or bad experience with the more narrow wheels such as the ones made my Paktron?
Do you have a source for prefabricated rollers and brackets so I can avoid custom work?
Is a single centered roller enough? I am thinking one on each corner might be more effective if a driveway isn't flat.

Hey Rick,
We currently have a 34' steel tag that I custom ordered without the wheels. It dragged
numerous times so I had 2 wheels welded each side on the rear. Solved everything. The wheels are much smaller than 12". Will send you some pics from the track tomorrow.
I just bought a 53' Featherlite that does not have the skid wheels so I also am looking
for skid wheels that can be attached to an aluminum trailer.

My Pace non-aluminum trailer has a pair in the back. About 3" diameter and a foot long. Mounted under each main frame rail, less than a foot from the very back. Pace refers to them as bogey wheels.

I would recommend two. Seems to me that under each frame rail would be the strongest. And how often are you going to hit while going going straight and perfectly level from side-to-side. One in the center just doesn't seem adequate.

Bumo. Interested in this as well. I have never seen a single, wide roller, only a small wheel on each side. Also would like to know about best source for stabilizer jacks for the back of the trailer, for loading/unloading when not hooked to tow vehicle. Any experience with these?

Thank you, Clark and Tony - using 2 wider rollers seems the best answer. I have friends with a trailer that came with those installed.
Now I need to find a source.
Thanks for warning me off of the smaller wheels.

I too have the Pace "boogey wheels" on my 28ft Pace. I imagine they sell them separately as they have a large parts department which you can buy from directly.....
