Default external microphone location

Hi,

Could anybody share know/how of where to hide and what to do with external microphone so it would not record primarily and exclusively wind noise only?
I tried several locations so far, got it wrapped with foam too, no use, it still picks up mostly wind noise at speed.

It probably does not matter but recorder is aim smartycam.

Regards, Paul.

I did a few test drives with mine and settled on putting it in the center console. It's muffled a little more than I'd like but it does get rid of all the wind noise. Shifts are pretty loud though.

I have mine stuffed in between two layers of the fabric of my seat. It works great for cutting out wind noise and I really like the sound.

I have 2 microphones. One UNDER the passenger seat and one with a wind screen up under front driver visor area. Out of the wind. example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tPXd4A24_U

i came to same conclusion, looked back and forth of where to push this cord, it is not very long, so i did cut bigger foam piece to fit mic inside and placed it into center console compartment, next to spot where spare change usually sits. will see how muffled it will make voice on a tape, will try it out this weekend.
