X2. The NASA July event is always well attended even though everyone knows it's going to be hot. Last year measured peak temps in the paddock were in the 105 degree range.
You just have to prepare for it. Plenty of water. Good working driver cooling system in the car. And if the heat really bothers you, find a friend with AC in their trailer or a room at the track and hang there.

Good Hands post above seeems to be somewhat accurate.

Yeah well, the Porsche Cup car is just as much a pansie then because in two of the races last year on restarts after long yellows my car was so hot it wouldn't run right for 2 laps. My engine temps and oil temps were north of 250 degrees. Cool suit makes it bearable for the driver but the car just can't take it. Move it to November...

I survived last year without a cool shirt (ordered a system from the hotel that weekend) , but oil temps were always above 250. Missed next two races with a cracked cylinder head. Be there this year with my cool shirt and third oil cooler

Zone 2 CR @ VIR Registrar here..... FWIW we tried to change the date with VIR after last year's record breaker but were told we had not options to switch. Plenty of chairs in the air-conditioned building in the north paddock where registration is..... come on down.....
As we said in the event annoucement - it can't possibly be as hot as last year.....

I was amazed to see fellow racers without cool shirts last year. I had fortuneatly installed mine a month before! It was without a doubt the 8th wonder of the world that weekend!

BTW Dan, you should come on down. We need a rematch before next season!

I have attended two PCA events at VIR, both were hot. I love VIR but 4 of the 5 guys that I run with out of the same shop have said no to VIR due to the heat. I live in AZ so I am OK with the heat with a cool shirt.

I also run my car in vintage evnets, this year I will attend a race at Mid Ohio the same weekend as VIR. The entry list for the vintage race at Mid Ohio is really down as was (as we all know) the PCA event last month. Is it the economy?

I guess for VIR, Economy + Heat = Low Turnout
