Default Camera suggestion

Hi all,

Looking for suggestions re: camera to capture hand and foot work while driving. Any trick set-ups out there? I already use a Smartycam (integrated by an MXL Pista) to overlay data and video and I don't want to replace it. Just add to it. I am ok with synch of 2 video streams as a PIP in the editing package i use.

Thanks

The AiM's DaVid multi camera rig. Think $2K plus.

PM Bob Turgeon or Larry Herman here. They have a small bullet cam they use that should work - about the size of a 410 shotgun shell. Soon to be in 1080 if that matters. Takes nice video. Sorry but dont recall the mfgr.

i have to say the inexpensive heroHD cams are really quite good. i have a couple for spec miata scca events...as those races tend to get chippy (it's nice to have video in the event of silliness). they work great. excellent video. since they are so reasonably priced, you can put them all over the place.

^ Yes, Scott, thx - just googled it and that looks like what we've been using.

Nice camera. I have the Contour 1080 which is nice but these are so much smaller and simple to use that having a couple aimed at the driver, the feet, ahead, behind, etc., would be no big deal. Easy to get the data off of too from what i've seen. Just need RaceRender, or similar, to put it all together..

I have some friends that are into model rockets. I edited this video for them and the inset picture in the first part with the rocket-mounted camera was shot with a key fob camera. It looks just like a key fob but is actually a tiny camera. You can find them on eBay. They are about $14 plus you need a micro SD card and they take a few weeks to arrive from China. I had one in Atlanta to try out as a foot cam or rear view but never got the chance.
