Should be big crowds for Alonso, probably more pressure on him for this race than any other driver. I'll bet Ferrari pulls out all the stops to qualify well here.

Not terribly on topic, but I seem to find myself in Barcelona this week, and was wondering if it would be worth it to get a one day ticket to the events on Saturday? Is it just qualifying/testing, or some other low level junk?

Is Bernie suggesting that Schumi retire???
May 19 (GMM) Bernie Ecclestone has admitted disappointment with Michael Schumacher’s return to Formula 1, like the German’s bosses, believes that the seven times World Champion is capable of winning races at the highest level.

After Schumacher’s disappointing performance season last year, there were high hopes an improved Mercedes GP car and the new Pirelli tyres would lead to a more successful campaign for in 2011.
Asked about Schumacher’s return so far, Ecclestone told the Swiss newspaper Blick: “I am surprised and disappointed.”
But he added, “I would like to see him in a Red Bull because you don’t know how good the Mercedes is. Compared to his teammate Rosberg, it (Schumacher’s performance) doesn’t look good. But Michael is a fighter and he can still win. I’ll be the first to cheer when he beats Vettel.”
Schumacher admitted after a fraught event in Turkey two weeks ago that he is currently missing “the big joy” of Formula 1.
Some commentators are advising the German to return to retirement, moving 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell to admit: “If things haven’t improved by the end of the year, maybe what some people are saying he should take heed.”

Schumi has been in the thick of the action in all the races this year
The German tabloid Express has this week even quoted a doctor as speculating Schumacher might need glasses, but Mercedes’ Norbert Haug denies he is over the hill.
“I would not underestimate him or his ability. So far this year his true capabilities have been clear not in results, but in lap times — yes,” the German told Salzburger Nachrichten.
And team boss Ross Brawn is quoted as saying by Reuters: “I think he’s pretty resilient and I’m optimistic this weekend he’ll be back where we want him.”
Schumacher will be starting his 273rd Grand Prix when he lines up on the Barcelona grid on Sunday for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Depends on how much you're into the sport. On Saturday you have an F1 practice in the morning then qualifying in the afternoon. Qualifying has become an even more interesting part than the race itself in the last few years IMO. You also have support races like the Porsche Supercup and other support series. It's definitely a lot of fun and if I had an opportunity I would definitely go.

I haven't been to a Sunday race in years.
Religiously attend Friday and Saturday though. After 48 hours of track, sun, food and drink, and drink, and drink, Sunday is nappy time for me to curl up in the shade and watch the race on HD Plasma.
YMMV
Best,
Matt

Went with Webber. He's got the car, and I think he's been under-performing and had some bad luck. It'll be interesting to see if anyone can pass without the DRS. Spain is traditionally like Monaco. Qualifying well and if your pit stops go well, you've got it made.

So Im watching the practice on Speed and they start going on and on about Kimi driving a truck.....WTF!!!
I liked Kimi when he was in F1 but hes not anymore and dont care about NASCAR in any form but Speed is really NASCAR tv I guess.
Can we not have a little F1 time without the other racing intrutions?
