Porsche Racing Challenge Series
Announces 2011 Sponsors and 2010 Class Champions

By Michael A. Mitchell
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(San Francisco, CA; May 12, 2011) The Porsche Racing Challenge Series has announced its sponsors for the 2011 season and class championship winners for 2010. “This is the tenth season for the Series, and we are pleased to add three new sponsors for this year, Guard Transmission, Cullinan Appraisals and the Lazy J Ranch,” noted Masuo Robinson of the Porsche Racing Club (PRC). “They join a much-appreciated group of supporters of the area’s premier amateur racing series,” he added.

“As a small family-owned manufacturing business, we are very proud to be sponsoring a grassroots racing organization like the PRC,” said Matt Monson, owner/president of Guard Transmission. Guard transmission is the premier supplier of transmission components and differentials for Porsche street and race cars (Guard Transmission). The full list of Series sponsors is provided below, and there are links to those businesses at Welcome to the PRC!.

Five events remain on the 2011 Series calendar, with the next event at Thunderhill Raceway Park May 14-15. Additional highlighted events for 2011 include races at Infineon (Sears Point) Raceway (June 11-12), and the 10th annual “Porsches at the Point” at Infineon (October 29-30). The Porsche Rennsport Reunion IV (RR IV) at Laguna Seca, just preceding this event (October 14-16), will also be of great interest to Porsche racing enthusiasts in the area. The Porsche Club of America (PCA) has recently announced that they will sanction two racing groups at this all-Porsche event. “We hope that some of the Rennsport Reunion racers will join us two weekends later at Infineon,” added Robinson. The entire 2011 Porsche Racing Challenge Series schedule and other details can be found on the Porsche Racing Club web site, Welcome to the PRC!.

Porsche Racing Challenge Series 2010 Spec911 and GT Limited Championship Results

The Porsche Racing Challenge Series has also announced 2010 season winners for its two "specification" classes for Porsche 911 racing cars: Spec911 and GT Limited. Both classes offer exciting and competitive racing with cost-containment in mind, and racers earn points toward season championships. The 2010 champion for the Spec911 Class was Behram Soonawalla, MD (Santa Rosa, California). Second and third place went to Jeff Gamroth (Portland, Oregon), and Gary LeGendre (Portland, Oregon), respectively. The 2010 champion for the Series’ GT Limited Class was Gary Willard (Woodside, California). Gary narrowly beat second place finisher Peter Venturini (Coulterville, California).
