Default The new Duramax 6.6L - Comments?

I may have an opportunity to trade my new Silverado Z-71 LTZ half ton for a one year old (36K mile) HD 2500 with the new 6.6L diesel.

Does anybody here have experience or coments about the package - I'm an old F truck Powerstroke guy and know virtually nothing about the new generation diesels.

i dont have the latest, but i bought a 2009 duramax brand new.
it's 23 months old now, 49,000 miles
never had A SINGLE issue except the jammed CC button as i dumped coffee on it. i do tow 10,000 lbs with it for about 6000 miles so so now. no prob.

never had diesel before and never had trucks before.
now its the car i love to drive most.

I have 2007.5 w/49KMi on the clock, bought new and absolutely love it. Can't beat 660 ft/lbs of torque with 6sp tiptronic Allison tranny.

You will forget about those "powerchokes" quickly.

I love my 2010 2500 HD DuraMax - great daily driver and it'll tow a mountain. Never any issues.

The 07.5-2010 diesel engine (LMM) is different than the new 2011 (LML) engine in that it does not need urea injection and, so far, seems to have less issues than the newer but as-yet-unproven technology.

I suspect LMM engines will be in much greater demand in the future for this reason.

I bought my duramax in '06 and love it. Tows like a dream and no engine problems.

Try looking at posts on the diesel place forums for views on the various duramax engine flavors. http://www.dieselplace.com/

Just did the deal! My fancy Silverado for his semi-fancy HD/Duramax, both 4x4. I loose the leather, heated seats and 25K miles and he gets $11K.

Win/win here and I look forward to towing the new rig.

Thanks

Once you've gone diesel you'll never go back.

Enjoy. I love my diesel and would still be using it as my daily driver if the cost of diesel wasn't so high.

The new 6.7 with Fords Alison copy ain't no choke, guaranteed, as a matter of fact it has 400hp/800Tq , more than the Obamamotors and IMO is the best HD truck right now........and I am not a Ford guy, I have a Duramax.

The 6.7 is the schit. Incredible package, and as quiet as a gas V8.

Their upcoming Interceptor (replacement for the police package Crown Vic) is an amazing vehicle for what it is. Will outhandle some sports cars.

Ford has it goin' on right now....and no taxpayer bailout!

Sorry , the Cummins is old school, relative poor power/transmission and had to get a Obamawaiver to run without Uria......objectively it is not up to par to the current GM/Ford offerings.

BTW, GM and Chrysler/Dodge are going bust again and will need more bailout money, you watch, that is a almost guarantee.

Dodge just announced it will be paying their loans back in full and with a brand new 6 speed auto and 800 ft # of tourque with the most reliable motor in the industry.....I would have to disagree, however thanks for your opinion.
