However if it's moving forward at 150mph and you're stationary, it's hitting you at 150mph. I really have no idea at what speed they travel at, but I do know that the most common scenerio for us to be hit with them is when they get kicked up by a front splitter or when they're thrown up by a rear tire. In both cases they're inevitably moving forward when they hit you, and seem to be traveling at close to the speed of the vehicle that threw them up.
Actually that's a 350mph impact in your example. The rubber and driver are travelling in opposite directions not the same.

Here's one of our coolers after a 500 mile oval race (Michigan 500 year 2000). Super speedway tires are quite hard, so this was somewhat of a surprise to us. Also the engine's plenum had a fair amount of rubber in it.

Perhaps the new visor as more to do with this issue than Massa's accident last year?

Didn't Mythbusters do an episode about somthing similar - bugs hitting motorcyle rider - they ended up using a huge African beatle of some kind and measures the forces at 70mph. I guess if you calculate to 200mph those forces would be huge.

I sure would not want to get hit with a 200mph booger
