To me this is an interesting question of technology vs. driver skill. It's not an issue in DE where there is no racing but when cars of different years race in the same class, is it the guy with the latest computer that wins?
The first few generations of these systems will slow down a skilled driver but it is only a matter of time before they are so sophisticated that no human could possibly keep up. ABS is a good example, unless you had four feet and four brake pedals, there is no way you could optimize the braking as well as a 1990s vintage ABS computer.
For me it comes down to whether I enjoy riding in the car or driving it. On the track, I like to drive, but if I were an instructor, I too would want all the computers working to the best of their ability to keep me riding.
