Default PCA Racing Track Time

Just curious, how many times are you on track.

2 sprints, 1 enduro, 1 qualifying, (?) practice

You will find that with PCA Club Racing you get more track time than almost any other sanctioning body.

The traidtional schedule is three practice sessions, of 20-30 minutes each, plus a set of three practice starts followed by a short practice race. Those all normally happen the first day of the event. The second day of the event there is normally a short warm up session, followed by a 30 minute qualifying session, followed by one, two or even three sprint races. Most events also have a 60 or 90 minute enduro, which may or may or may not have a separate warm up and qualifying session.

Bottom line is tons of track time.

For a typical weekend:

Thursday
Optional DE/Test and Tune: 3 x 25 minute sessions

Friday
Timed practices: 3 x 20 minutes
Practice starts/Fun race: 1 x 30 minutes

Saturday
Warm-up: 20 minutes
Qualifying: 30 minutes (not always available)
Sprint 1: 30 minutes
Sprint 2: 30 minutes

Sunday
Warm-up: 20 minutes
Enduro: 90 minutes

Plenty of track time....

While I do nearly all my racing in NASA I have to agree with that statment 100%. One of PCA's strong suits is track time at each race. Organizations like NASA or SCCA do not offer the same number of minutues on track over a given weekend event. Their model is different.

Very true!!! So much that many people skip the practice start sessions.

Raced with Carolinas @ CMP in October. They included a late Friday race. Loved it, and not just be cause I won by default (other four in class either broke or no-showed).

Exactly and the DE track time during a Club Race/DE event far exceeds a regular DE. For those interested, there are roster spaces available in both the DE and Club Race for the Lone Star Region CR/DE March 18-20 at Texas World Speedway.

I wish they would not combine them... the grip at Sebring was incredibly bad, it may have contributed to all the crashes and lost track time in the GT3 cup group. The day after the PCA race, when no more street tires were on the track, everyone went two seconds faster.

That may sound really rude, but if you spent 5 figures for the event including $5K just for tires, you would want to have some grip and consistency, too.

I can't speak for Sebring, but many times the DE is the only thing keeping the region from losing money on a race weekend. It's also an introductory way for some people that have never been to a particular track before to learn the track in a DE environment, instead of a race environment.

You want more track time? Race with HSR.

Typical weekend, Thursday 3 or 4 practice sessions
Friday 3 practice sessions + Qualy + Porsche Challenge Race
Saturday Practice/Qualy + Sprint Race
Sunday 1, 1.5, 3 or 4 hour enduro + Sprint Race

On top of that, night races. Tough on the tire and gas budget * love it !

Mike, did you look at the Advanced Solo roster and cars? There were very few cars running on street tires...

That is interesting, I can't understand why the track was so slow and slippery until the IMSA test day.
