PORSCHE CAYMAN CONTINUES TO SHOW STRONG POTENTIAL DURING DAYTONA TESTING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 10, 2011 (Ormond Beach, FL) –Three days of official Grand-Am sanctioned testing took place this past weekend around a freshly paved Daytona International Speedway, as teams prepared for the opening round of the 2011 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series season. BGB Motorsports prepared and entered two Porsche Caymans S entries in the Grand Sports class for drivers Stewart Tetreault of Canton, Connecticut and Guy Cosmo of West Palm Beach, FL, with team manager John Tecce doing double duty. Entered under alternate status for the beginning of the weekend and at the hands of Guy Cosmo, #83 Porsche Cayman S took top Porsche honors with a lap of 1:58.81 during the 6th and final practice session on Sunday afternoon to finish the session in 3rd place. Always in the top-10 with both entries and all 3 drivers during each practice session, Caymans were P3 in two practices and P4 in another; this landed both of BGB’s Stuttgart entries in 11th and 16th overall after 6 sessions and 3 days. The big V8 power of the Camaros, Mustangs and BMW M3s took over the time sheets each time the tiny Porsche kept creeping up. Cosmo’s lap time of 1:58.8 equated to an average speed of 107.8 mph around the 3.56 mile facility; this is unofficially the fastest ever lap time for a non-purpose built, non-factory supported racing Porsche around Daytona. The drivers, crew and fans of the local Porsche team began to feel as if they were back in a familiar place.

Feeling much improvement in the cars drivability, drivers had additional thoughts:

“The surface doesn’t seem to be as fast as we all thought it would be. We’ve developed and gotten this car classified well but we’re really only 1.2 seconds faster than we were here last year. Guy says the car has improved a lot with the off-season testing they’ve been doing much of. He and the boys were out a few times trying all sorts of tricks,” added driver Stewart Tetreault who is returning to run with BGB and Guy Cosmo for all of 2011. Cosmo had more to add:

“This was a great test for us; we’ve done a lot of development over the winter and we’ve made an enormous amount of progress with these BGB Caymans. The cars are now to a point where they’re a lot of fun to drive and clearly they’re quite competitive. I’m really proud of my BGB crew and can’t wait to deliver the results they deserve throughout this entire season. Stewart and I have worked just as hard together in the off-season at various tracks in the southeast and he’s really sharpening his skills. He will be a strong teammate this year.”

The team is looking forward to returning for the race at the end of the month and moving into the speedway on Wednesday January 26th. The Ormond Beach based team will be entering both Porsche Caymans for the 200-mile event, with unset plans for the 2nd car’s driver lineup. Qualifying for the race will be at 5:30pm on Thursday. The green flag for Friday’s race will drop at 1:30pm with the race’s 2.5 hour time limit guaranteeing an exciting finish.

BGB Motorsports is an ambitious, professional motorsports business. The team's facility is located less than 15 miles from Daytona International Speedway and the headquarters for the Grand American Road Racing Association. The team operates as a customer oriented business, running cars under the Grand American Road Racing, Sports Car Club of America and Porsche Club of America sanctioning bodies.
