Has anyone tried something a little outside the box in the cooler.
The inserts you freeze for countertop ice cream machines have MASSIVE cooling capacity. I use them in beer coolers to supplement the ice and when I've forgotten to empty them out I've found ice 4 days later and I hadn't packed much ice in the cooler as beer volume was more important.

(Foghorn Leghorn voice on) Now I say there lookie here, that there is a joke son. (FHLH voice off)
This was a running joke in the house for a while. I kept telling the dog it was too late for me but he still had a chance to run away. Alas, he did not and the evil Shewife got him too. At least I did not have to wear the stupid looking cone.
But we digress....

These shirts are better. http://www.986inc.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=21 There is another thread on it. Also these shirts are compatible with a FAST system. Don't know about

Wouldn't salt corrode any fittings? I'm looking into these systems too.

I use a Koolbox SP helmet cooling system. Fresh air in the helmet is enough for me and you don't need to mess with ice and water.
Another thread on this system:

I have the FAST system and love it. Took me way too long to get one! Seems to last quite a awhile even if i use cubed ice...never had the Cool system though. I will give you one piece of advice whatever system you decide on...run the anti-algae/bacterial stuff through it a few times per season...they can get very nasty in the hot weather.

Cool Shirt Maintenance Additive
The Cool Shirt Maintenance Additive is $9.59 for a 16 oz bottle. Here's the link:
http://www.apexperformance.net/CartGenie/prod-2082.htm
If you don't want to purchase their maintenance additive, add 8 ounces of rubbing alcohol to the cooling unit with a 1/2 gallon of water and circulate through the hose and shirt oncer per month or before long-term storage.
The Maintenance Additive from Cool Shirt is supposed to have a lubricant for the pump as well as the fungicide so it might be worth getting it instead.

also, some salts are exothermic and make heat as they change from solid to brine. this will take up some of the cooling cap.
In DE I sometimes see coolshirts worn alone without a shirt over it. This reduces its cooling cap. You end up cooling the srounding air rather than you.
