Default New Track Palm Springs area?

I saw an ad for this in the new Automobile magazine. Interesting...the following found on Ferrari Chat.
http://www.thermal122.com
Thermal Motorsports Track and Club
www.thermal122.com Thermal has partnered with The World Famous La Quinta Resort Hotel in La Quinta California. Desert Sun/Local paper ran a great story last Sunday about the track's ground breaking Spring of 2011! I attended the first reception of he season at thier office last Friday evening. Over 100 people attended and listened to Darren Law and Tom Gloy- who are both involved in the track- discuss it's great location, weather and track design. It is located at the Southern end of Jacqueline Cochran Airport's 17/35 8500' runway,on over 350 acres and features a massive GP track of a 4.5 mile FIA grade 2 circuit. The main track can be divisable into 3 seperate tracks with 19 diferent configurations! Alan Wilson designed the entire facility and Darren Law was the driving force behind the track design. Ferrari of Orange County is hosting a party at the Thermal's Resort sales showroom on Friday,November 19th from 5-7pm. December's MotorTrend and Automobile Magazines will feature the track. I would say this track is alive and well! The Coachella Valley with both Chuckwalla and Thermal is quickly becoming the nations mecca for world class motorsports! Perfect weather and 17,000+ hotel rooms combine to make for an unforgetable track experience in the Palm Spring's desert empire!

There is a brand new track 45 minutes outside of Palm Springs (Chuckwalla Raceway). Great track that can be run in both directions. I don't know how many tracks So Cal can support, but I'm not complaining if it's built.

chuckwalla looked cool in the video that I saw- I mean so does this one but the whole "premier experience" thing that some car clubs have is, for me, kind of pointless. If I'm doing track days it is generally going to be practicing for a race or something now, so I'm not going to be concerned with amenities, I just want a good track to drive on.

Exactly.

The only thing I really want to see in a track other the a good track is a paved paddock and some running water. I don't need anything else.

Great track with the bare necessities (so far).

Well designed and fun in both directions.

Good to know.. That means I will bring my own. Heck I would LIKE running water and 120V AC power. I can still do without. I just don't like to paddock in the dirt. We don't have much grass in the desert and jack stands sink into soft dirt and even in the dry it is a mess.

There is water at the East side of the paddock just as you drive on to paddock it's on the left. We filled RV with water before we left Chuckwalla.
Fun track both directions but it is in the middle of BFE.
Just a note for people heading to the track, once you get off the 10fwy start looking on the right at three mile mark for road leading to track. At night you can not see the sign (not lit and way off the road) so we had to drive 30 miles until we could do a u-turn with the 67 footer.
