Default Moton's installed...For all us Do It Yourselfers

As many have read there was a Rennlist Moton Group buy about a month ago. So, I bit and ordered a set to replace my PSS9's that were installed on my race car when it was built in 2003! I hope that they will make a difference and gain me some time at Sebring, as my current best lap with the PSS9's is a 2:23.0.

I figured I'd show some pics of my Thanksgiving Weekend Do It Yourself install of the shocks.

Front Brake Hose through the Frame Rail then bolted to blow almost directly into the center of the rotor.

I too just upgraded to motons from bilstein rsr's (about 8 year old ones). Your lap times at Sebring are about the same as mine. I think I was high 2.22's this year at the club race. I am going down to a chin event in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference in lap times. Hopefully quicker!!

they will be slower until you fine tune them and get the car "hooked up"

these are not plug and play shocks.. keep notes and start in the middle and click away

Awesome! Mine came with the car and I love them. I stepped up from the Bilstein Cups., which were great, but...

What are those Tarett clampy things? If they are what I think they are, I need 4 of them to replace my electrical tape backup nut! LOL...

The tarrett thingies are only on the fronts and they are for the sway bar drop links. The upper bolt of the sway bar drop link attaches there and that moves the drop link for better geometry, i believe.

Grassroots Magazine had a great article several years ago about shock set up how-to. If I can find it online, I'll post a link. Personally, I'd pay someone to get it set up and then tinker from there to suit my "driving style". Probably save a lot of time and frustration.

May 2006 "The Shocking Truth" Joe Stimola knows formula car shocks--so you don't have to.

Great chart called "Joe's CliffNotes on Tuning"

If interested, I can probably scan the chart.

I am waiting for mine to arrive. I got my car dialed in for 2010 with the Bilstein Turbo Cup setup. I was running 700lb fronts and 400rears with 29mm bars. I am excited to be changing to Motons but fearful of a set back.

I have heard mixed opinions on spring rates for Motons compared to Bilsteins. Some say you can go stiffer and the shocks can be dialed in to make the car compliant. The other school of thought says soften springs and make it up with damping. Which one is right?

I got my set today. So what's the concensus, same spring rates or softer or stiffer-Motons compared to Bilsteins?
